description
The application of red routes is identified as offering the potential to improve vehicular movement along congested routes, especially those where parking and loading restrictions are continually abused. Liverpool City Council is intends to investigate the viability of establishing Red Routes on 3 key corridors in the City. The intention is to develop some of those highways that have been identified as being key to the economic growth of Liverpool and the wider city Region. The routes identified are Kensington / Prescot Road, Smithdown Road and A59 County Road / Walton Road. This service is to support Liverpool City Council in looking at the reliability of the network and to review the introduction and application of new technologies and interventions to deliver better journey time reliability and less congestion. The approach needs to investigate the elements required to introduce a Red Route. The first phase shall assess and prepare a proposal up to final design and cost, with the second phase supporting implementation should Liverpool City Council decide to proceed.
