description

Historic England invites tenders for a project to develop a new technical platform and new governance arrangements to enable the heritage sector to better develop, publish, manage, fund and host Research Frameworks.

Our aim is to:-

  • Create a sustainable platform for all future Research Frameworks in the heritage sector
  • Better connect and co-ordinate heritage research across geographical and thematic/period subject areas

The objectives are to:

  • oenable research frameworks to be better accessed, cross-searched and implementable
  • oSave the sector time and money that would otherwise be needed to develop separate systems for publication and management of research frameworks
  • Develop a business model to cover:
  • othe governance of the platform in the future o licensing and copyright o future funding options for facilitation of the user community, hosting, maintenance and development

Due to the scope of the work anticipated, we welcome tenders from consortia to provide range of necessary skills and experience.

  • oTechnical development of online collaboration platforms
  • oHosting and long-term availability of internet resources
  • oData standards, semantic search, and models in the heritage sector
  • oUnderstanding of how online communities work
  • oUnderstanding of historic environment research
