description

RSSB on behalf of the rail industry wants to understand the effectiveness and implications of distributed sanding and variable rate sanding for train braking in low adhesion conditions and the impact this will have on train detection. It is envisaged that this will be delivered through track testing following on from RSSB R&D research project T797 Performance and installation criteria for sanding systems moving it into demonstrator phase.

Subject to availability of rolling stock and suitable test track, testing is envisaged to take place from June 2016 having developed the necessary testing criteria and process.

RSSB is seeking to appoint a supplier to plan and run the trials, and will be inviting suppliers to participate in an open tender for provision of services for the work.

We are keen to engage with suppliers who have a broad experience in design and logistical preparations for rolling stock testing, low adhesion testing, sanders and track circuit systems.

RSSB will be holding a supplier engagement workshop at the RSSB offices on 15 Jan 2016 at 1000 – 1100 with opportunity to have 1to1 half hour meeting following the presentation.

Please can you confirm if you would like to attend the event by 14.00 hours 8th Jan 2016.
