Replacement/Refurbishment of Par Athletics Track

Following the commissioning of a full track survey earlier this year, Cornwall Council is seeking to appoint a suitably experienced, qualified and accredited Principal Contractor, following a competitive procurement process over the coming months, to undertake a full replacement of the 400m Running Track at Par in Mid Cornwall, as well as, budget permitting, undertake the refurbishment of some of the associated track and field equipment and facilities.

The Council intends for the actual works on site to commence at the beginning of March 2017 and be completed during the Spring months of 2017, prior to the commencement of the main athletics meeting season.

Accordingly, the Council wishes to invite interested Contractors and/or their nominated sub-contractors, to attend a 'Market Engagement Event', which has been arranged to take place on Friday 30th September, 2016, to be held on site at Par Athletics Track, commencing at 10 am and assembling in the Sports Pavilion prior to that time.

This event will include a full tour of the site and allow for an inspection of the existing facilities, site access and security and so on.

The other main purpose of this event is to work collaboratively with the Council Officers present, their colleagues from Leisure Services, and the Council's recently appointed external Consultant, to help ensure that the Council will be in a position to issue a suitably detailed formal tender document, in due course, and ensure all necessary supporting information will be able to be supplied to interested Contractors to help inform their subsequent bid for the works.

Attendance at this event is at the Contractors own expense but the event is designed to be mutually beneficial and interactive and help to try and ensure greater clarity and understanding, for all parties, of the requirements and process to be followed, as well as negate the need for any Contractor visits to need to occur either individually or collectively during the more formal tender process that will ensue.

Par Athletics Track is easily accessible by either Road or even Rail with the mainline Railway station at Par situated very close to the main track entrance and next to that entrance there should be adequate free parking.
