description
DWP have decided to re-platform its VME applications to VME-R using Microfocus COBOL as the platform to run its VME-R services. In order to achieve this DWP need a supplier who is:- Capable of modernising the VME COBOL to Microfocus COBOL language including both database and data conversion; and
Has the ability to modernise VME via the use of Automated Tooling enabling a lift and shift approach to re-platforming.
Mobilisation Outcomes
The initial mobilisation stage focuses on establishing the VME-R ‘Delivery Facility’ with sufficient definition of processes, sufficient infrastructure (physical and IT), sufficient tooling and sufficiently resourced to begin Next Phase re-platform projects. In order to reach this ‘migration ready’ status for the facility DWP requires the supplier to input and support in the following mobilisation outcomes:
| • | Defining the overall, high-level facility lifecycle and processes. |
| • | Defining end-to-end QA and testing processes and tooling. |
| • | Preparing initial set of representative QA test cases for IICS and JSAPS. |
| • | Defining the hosting solution for facility activities. |
| • | Defining end-to-end configuration management process and tooling. |
| • | Facilitating security assessment and accreditation of location from where remote working would be conducted. |
| • | Resetting scope, schedule and ‘running order’ for the programme. |
| • | Establishing resource and software licensing models and costs, in step with the reset programme plan. |
| • | Perform Analysis processes on the IICS and JSAPS systems. |
