description
This pilot is looking to fund a project that will be delivered across the City and should prioritise women who have had previous children removed from their care and are at risk of further unplanned pregnancy, including those at present risk of having their children removed.
The pilot should provide an opportunity to fully understand and address the needs of women following removal of child by a family court order.
The pilot will address trauma both present and historical to reduce the likelihood of repeat pregnancies. Individual support packages will be tailored to the needs of Women and their partner/support network to address issues that have resulted in a child being removed. Problems such as drug and alcohol misuse and domestic violence etc. are common presenting factors for some of the service users.
The pilot will be offered to women across the district using the Wakefield Families Together approach of whole family multiagency working.
This pilot will provide evidence of the types of support and intervention which reduces the number repeat pregnancy and improves women's self-esteem, confidence and self-worth.
The pilot is initially for 18 months with the possibility to extend for up to a further 18 months subject to funding.
The budget for the initial 18 months is £50,000
