description

The Signposting and Community Support Service (SCSS) provides predominantly re-used/graded furniture and white goods (to enable people to move out of temporary accommodation, access tenancies etc.) together with emergency short-term food and fuel support to people in hardship and crisis. The Service also delivers services focused on debt and money management advice that contribute to longer-term preventative support. The Service has been developed over the past three financial years to reduce costs and increase efficiency by supporting people, via frontline social care, family support or housing workers, in an immediate and targeted manner.

The reasons for people needing support include benefits sanctions and delayed payments, budgetary and debt problems, homelessness, crime and domestic abuse.

This contract is to provide the emergency food and fuel element of the Service for Leicestershire from April 2024 onwards.
