Evaluation for paramedic pre-degree programme

Health Education England is commissioning an evaluation into a 12 month pilot for paramedic pre-degree. The aim of this pilot study would be to further progress the development of care and compassion in a culturally diverse ambulance service workforce with an understanding of urgent as well as emergency care, and has the resilience to commit to the service.

Additional information: The successful contracting organisation will be required to undertake the following activities:

To what extent does a period of work experience as an ECA:

• a)allow this specific cohort(s) to develop insight into the professional commitment required to provide competent, kind and compassionate patient care.

• b)enable potential paramedic students to determine whether paramedicine is the most appropriate career choice for them.

• c)benefit the individual and their potential contribution to patient services

• d)encourage and allow access for underrepresented groups to be part of this pilot.

• e)allow the development of apprenticeship models.

• f)help to develop the necessary academic abilities of potential paramedic students to access the BSc paramedic programme.

• g)benefit the employer? Would the employer adapt the process in any way?
