description
Hornbeam Road playground is a redundant area managed by Buckhurst Hill Parish Council situated in a field behind residential housing.
The play area needs a complete new surface and play equipment designed for ages 1 to 12 years.
| • | Tender quotations to include project management, and periodic meetings will be required with the Clerk and Council representatives to monitor progress throughout the project. |
| • | Contractors will be required to demonstrate and provide their specialist knowledge and skills and manage the contract to achieve compliance with all relevant legislation, standards, health and safety and risk requirements. |
The successful Contractor will be responsible for the security / health and safety / risk assessments for both the existing area and new play areas, for staff /sub-contractors throughout the project, and will be responsible for all plant machinery, materials, personal property of staff, and the correct storage of any potential hazardous materials or equipment.
| • | Re-instatement of all surrounding areas. |
| • | Minimum 10-year warranty of equipment and surfaces. |
| • | Temporary storage structure - the location of any structure for the site, would need to be agreed prior to work commencing, with the Contractor being responsible for the maintenance and safety of such. |
Existing Play Area
| • | Remove two old bins and two old benches |
| • | Remove and dispose of existing wet pour/tarmac surfacing. |
| • | Remove one fencing sections to allow pedestrians to walk around the external perimeter |
| • | Remove damaged/warped fencing and complete length with sections removed |
New Play Area Requirements
| • | Suitable for age range 1 - 12 years. |
| • | Steel equipment and/or Robinia pieces. |
| • | New innovative design, varied in play range with inclusive elements |
| • | Provide two new entrance gates (one into area, the other to the field) |
| • | Provide new play equipment and surfacing |
| • | Retain existing fencing surround and include vehicle accessibility in one of the new entrance gate. |
| • | Provide at least two new seating area and at least two litter bins. |
| • | Provide Low maintenance surfacing throughout play area - matta or equivalent and wet pour to be considered as preferences |
| • | Design to be sympathetic to and cohesive with the adjacent open spaces |
| • | The contractor to consider and allow for the gradient of the play area within the design and installation phases. |
| • | A public consultation with residents and park users on the successful Contractor's design will be undertaken, before agreeing final design. |
| • | Please note design may be subject to modification and negotiation with the selected contractor following the public consultation results. |
| • | The Contractor to supply a detailed maintenance schedule, outlining procedures / guidelines and bespoke tools as required for maintenance purposes. |
| • | Provide three cases studies within the past two years of similar play area developments |
| • | Visuals and drawings should be provided as part of the tender. These may be used in a public consultation. |
