The Category Manager is responsible for:
| - | Managing OJEU procurements from inception / strategy stage through to contract award. This will include open, restricted and competitive procedures with negotiation |
| - | Ensuring consistency of scope documentation and alignment of client needs and requirements within the entire contract suite |
| - | Liaison with legal team to draft contract terms and conditions |
| - | Managing a small team of procurement and contract management professionals; |
| - | Leading team members and ensuring that agreed targets are met; |
| - | Delivering strategic, high risk, high value contracts and frameworks as part of a multi-functional team; |
| - | Shape major capital project procurements, managing key commercial risks, developing appropriate Procurement Strategies and undertaking pre and post contract award negotiations in order to achieve best value for money; |
| - | Ensuring that the team is trained in and use DgC Policies, processes and procedures and e-Sourcing tool DgC One Way of Working); |
| - | Effectively influencing the SCAH programme to deliver value for money, achieving savings targets and sustainable outcomes in the procurement of works, goods and services; |
| - | Leading by example in Defra's approach to sustainability and communicating its importance, influencing others to improve their approach. Ensure sustainability is considered throughout our work and is the responsibility of all; and |
| - | Providing expert advice on commercial risk management and deliver mitigation plans / strategies to manage identified risks at corporate level. |
