description

Portsmouth City Council (The Authority) has published this questionnaire to enable the set up a specialised framework of Contractors for the external refurbishment and conservation work to some of the Authority's historic buildings and structures. Historic buildings are defined as those over 100 years old.

Due to the types of buildings in question, it is important that Contractors appointed to the framework have proven specialised experienced in this area of work.

SCOPE OF WORKS

The scope of works that will be let under the framework will vary with each project.

To allow the Authority to identify Contractors with experience in different types of work the framework has been split into 4 work type areas. An overview of the type of works that may be carried out within these work areas is given below, however this is not exhaustive.

1.Brickwork - Isolated repairs and replacements, structural repairs, repointing in lime mortar.
2.Stonework - Isolated repair, replacement, piecing in, structural repairs to ashlar stonework, including making templates of existing stonework and carving new matching sections.
3.Roofing - Flat and Pitched, Slate, asphalt, thatch, lead, and leadwork detailing,
4.Other - Contractors to state additional related trades they are able to offer.

As part of their return, Contractors must indicate which work areas they are interested in applying for. For each work area case studies and supporting references must demonstrate relevant experience.

There is no guarantee of the amount of work that will be put through this framework; however as an example, projects procured from the current list are:
