description

UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), based at the Culham Science Centre in Oxfordshire, hereafter referred to as the Purchaser, carries out research into the use of controlled fusion for the generation of power.

Setup of specified welding test rigs and conduct a series of tests on 316L steel. The trials will involve the adjustment of weld parameters to optimise the performance of the hybrid welding system and the quality of the resulting weld, and as such the expertise of the supplier should be sufficient as to investigate the performance of the system and quality of the weld. EN ISO 13919-1:2019 can be used to assess the imperfections in the weld and compare the performance of different welding parameters for laser welded joints, ISO 5817:2014 can be used for other fusion welded joints. A combination of these standards may be relevant for assessing hybrid welding.

The supplier should have access to appropriate facilities and expertise to carry out these tests and resulting analysis.
