description
High Peak Borough Council wish to appoint a main contractor to deliver a specification of identified works to the Pavilion Gardens visitor complex in Buxton Derbyshire.
Pavilion Gardens is a unique attraction and an important tourism venue in the High Peak, a destination which has wide ranging appeal for visitors, the local community, corporate organisations, private functions and large events alike.
This is a project to correct a significant number of defects including the structural stability of the Octagon Hall at the Pavilion Gardens complex in Buxton.
The work includes a full replacement of the structural ring-beam to the Octagon Hall as well as other related structural repairs. There are further structural works required to the adjoining Octagon Lounge as well as a new flat roof to the rear of the building. There are a number of identified joinery repairs to the hall and lounge as well as stripping back the main 32 vertical columns to the hall for repaint. As such the structural scaffold will need full encapsulation. There is drainage running under the floor of the hall which requires complete replacement. The hall and lounge floors are suspended on sleeper walls which have been altered over time and require stabilising works. The actual floors to both the hall and the lounge need full replacement. In addition to these work a full upgrade of all mechanical and electrical systems is required. The finished scheme will also include for repainting of internal areas and the introduction of motorised blinds.
The estimated programme of works is 12 months. The construction budget is £2.2 million.
