NHS West Kent Dermatology Service Market Engagement Event

NHS West Kent CCG (the Commissioner) is considering commissioning a service to deliver Level 3 and potentially Level 4 Dermatology Services for West Kent patients.

The CCG would like to get potential providers’ views, assess the market appetite, discuss the CCG’s plans with providers to understand capacity and providers’ ability to deliver the service. The service is expected to undertake a full range of Dermatology treatments. The CCG is seeking to commission the service with the following objectives:

-Deliver a high quality clinical dermatology care that supports patients to live their lives as fully as possible. -Actively helps improve dermatology skills and competencies in primary care more generally.

-Supports and educates patients to self-manage their skin conditions and prevent complications.

The service will deliver diagnosis, treatment and management of a range of dermatological conditions across community and secondary care settings. The service will be consultant led but not exclusively consultant delivered, ensuring joint working across all levels and referrals pathways.

The level 3 service will deal with all skin problems that cannot be managed by a GP or conditions where GPs may need advice such as: -Skin lesions pre malignant or of an uncertain nature.

-Suspected BCCs- assessment, excision, onward referral.

The level 4 service will include those conditions that can only be undertaken by secondary care teams and will include the 2ww pathway.

The Commissioner will value views of potential providers at this stage to help shape an innovative specification/model of care for people with skin/hair and nail conditions. Also to help inform the approach to commissioning the service, ensuring patients are seen by the right person, in the right place at the right time and can move readily between levels of care as necessary.

The Commissioner is supported and advised in this project by South East CSU (the CSU) and its procurement partner NHS Commercial Solutions (NHSCS), which is managing this procurement.

Additional information: The market engagement event will take place at Wharf House, Medway Wharf Road, Tonbridge, TN9 1RE on Wednesday 25th November 2015 from 3pm to 5pm. It must be stressed that this is purely a meet the market event and no tenders will be invited as a direct result of this event. If potential providers have any questions they would like to submit prior to the event, the Commissioner will review them and attempt to answer them at the event. Submitted questions will not form part of any future evaluation process should a formal tender be asked for.

On the day, the Commissioner will aim to: provide background and the commissioning context for the service, describe the service requirements, outline the procurement process, conduct an open-forum question and answer session, enable providers to network. The Commissioners will value views of potential providers at this stage to help shape an innovative specification.

We expect to begin the procurement process very soon after this event, and do not intend to conduct any similar events in the course of the procurement. The procurement will be open to all providers regardless of whether they attend the pre-procurement market event. Presentation material from the pre-procurement event will be available in the course of the procurement.
