description

TQEZ St Phillips Footbridge. This project has been designed by the Employer with elements to be designed by the selected Contractor as specified in the Works Information. The construction aspects are as outlined below:

Construction of a 4m wide footbridge over the River Avon Path and River Avon (New Cut) inclusive of upgrade works to the River Avon Path.

The footbridge will provide a cycle/pedestrian link between the River Avon Path and Arena. The proposed footbridge is a new steel box girder of varying cross section with a Y-shape arrangement (in plan) with one branch connected to an elevated concrete approach ramp and the other branch carrying the pedestrian staircase down to the upgraded at-grade pedestrian footpath (River Avon Path).

The upgraded section of the River Avon Path will be realigned adjacent to the elevated concrete approach ramp, supported on cast in-situ piled raft slab foundation, raised to 9.1m (footpath surface) with an upstand to a level of 9.5m and tie in with the River Avon Path / Victor Street at either end.
