Service

City Hospitals Sunderland is reviewing the requirements of specialist theatre areas for an Advanced Surgical Energy device and the associated products. This requirement is inclusive of but not exclusive of the following specialist areas:

Spend in this area was valued at approximately £1.2 million over the last 12 months across the whole of the Trust, with 700 procedures carried out in General Surgery and Urology using this form of equipment.

The Trust is looking to confirm a clear strategy of the type of products currently available in this developing field and to ensure continuity of compliance with current legislation.

The devices to be considered would be used in Endoscopic procedures and the brief is to include the consumables and other associated products as well as the generators themselves.

The Trust is looking to hold a market engagement event on the morning of Friday 9th September 2016 to allow the various specialist clinical staff to view equipment by attendee companies. The structure of this event will be to allow for a small presentation of 5-10 minutes depending on the number of attendees by each of the companies on a rolling loop to account for differing staff availability during the morning. This presentation should be focused on the clinical benefits of company’s equipment and not present commercial information. Slots within the process will be allocated on a random basis.

As well as the presentation we are asking for availability of demonstration equipment to be made available in a communal room where clinical staff can view and examine the equipment on an informal basis. The communal space is not to be a trade stand and company staff will be limited to technical staff as deemed fit.
