The Financial Conduct Authority Fund Supervision team is responsible for supervising more than 4,000 UK authorised funds. The team's supervision work is informed by data analysis, which helps build a clearer picture of the UK authorised fund population. The team uses number of tools to analyse various data sources to identify outliers. The aim is to identify issues as early as possible to minimise detriment.
The team required a tool that will allow it to analyse information about funds' risk and return characteristics, to identify outliers within certain sectors and categories. Analysis includes assessing inflows and outflows for funds and monitoring potential closet constrained or closet tracker funds.
