description

here has been considerable growth in the health and social care sector over the past few years, the sector has the highest share of total employment in Sutton, notably higher than the London and National average.

There is a shortage of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) skills in the borough and many roles created locally, for example in nursing, create huge recruitment challenges for employers. This limits the rate of innovation and impact on patient care. Some of the potential skills shortfalls are addressed by recruiting from overseas but this results in fewer opportunities for existing communities and young people in Sutton and south London.

To better understand the Health, Science and Social Care sector in Sutton and its supply chains, Sutton Council is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified organisation to define the sector, its workforce requirements and the skills gaps that exist thorough a strategy that provides a framework for future activities necessary to address the skills gaps.
