description
Goldsmiths wishes to procure a system that offers the highest levels of verifiable data quality and redundancy and has outlined the following technical requirements.
Technical requirements of the system include, but may not be limited to:
- The ability to interface with space planning tools currently used by Goldsmiths, namely Scientia.
- Sensors which can be deployed to monitor rooms or desks. This should include the ability to tailor the sensor range beyond 90° and the ability to pair sensors to act as one sensor when report back on usage of large rooms.
- Portable sensors which can easily be deployed and removed by authorised staff without assistance from the supplier.
- The option to operate sensors in different ways, including: live networked wireless deployment, live networked wired deployment and offline deployment.
- Sensors should provide on-board memory to allow several weeks data to be held on each device, enabling deployment in the absence of network infrastructure. This feature should support easy rotation or adjustments to the placement of sensors.
- The system should offer absolute redundancy. Data should not be lost in a situation where sensors are not networked or network connectivity is lost. Data should be held on the sensors and not lost or deleted until transferred to a host device.
- The system should provide data locally in real time, giving Goldsmiths full access and ownership of the detailed data in raw form as it is collected, with a time and date stamp.
- The raw data should be provided in a form which allows Goldsmiths to manipulate output using third-party tools such as Microsoft Excel.
- The sensors should be capable of collecting data by the second, but be individually programmable to enable definition of a valid occupancy period. For example, it should be possible to define a grace period of 10-15 minutes to allow for the fact that people may be away from a desk for short periods. The status should not be changed to unoccupied during these defined windows of time.
- The system should include a full set of standard analytical reports to enable Goldsmiths to interpret and make best use of the information collected through the survey. Goldsmiths should have full access to the information and analytical reports for at least a 12 month period following the survey, with the option of extending access at the end of the period.
- Data generated through the survey should be held in a securely hosted environment, providing secure online access to standard reports and tools to specified officers or representatives.
- The initial purpose of the exercise is a discrete one month survey. However, to meet potential future requirements the system should offer the ability to output real time information.
