description

Bradford Council is seeking tenders from General Building & Construction Contractors who are interested in gaining approval onto a framework agreement for Disabled Facilities Adaptation Works. Works will be in occupied, domestic premises (usually owner occupier or privately rented homes) at different individual addresses across the Bradford District. This framework will be used to deliver works for clients who have signed up to use the Housing's Agency Service. The purpose of the Agency Service is to organise the disabled facilities grant works and support the client through the grant process and the building process, including supervision and inspection, during and at completion of the works. The Contractor's role will be to undertake the necessary disabled facilities grant works. The works required are small jobs and examples of the typical works that this contract will cover are:- Supply and installation of internal / external / handrails / grab rails Provision of ramped access to a property and railings Supply and installation of showering facilities with the bath remaining in situ Supply and installation of showering facilities to include removal of bath, making good to wall plaster, installation of or provision of stepped or level access shower trays for floor coverings. Conversion of other rooms into shower / wc rooms Supply and installation of specialist kitchen facilities Alterations to existing internal structure to improve access around the property. The above list is a representative list for the types of works to be undertaken but cannot be construed as exhaustive. Consideration to owners/tenants will be critical, therefore in order to be approved onto the framework experience of working in occupied houses and of dealing with vulnerable people is essential. We also expect contractors to be able to evidence that they can and will re-act to emergencies on their own jobs within 24 hours of being notified of any problems for minor emergencies and within 4 hours for major emergencies.
