description
Children in Devon are best safeguarded when key agencies work together effectively. Devon Safeguarding Children Board's (DSCB) key function is to ensure that this happens. The core membership of Safeguarding Children Boards is set out in the Children Act 2004 and includes representatives from local authorities, health, police, education and others including the voluntary and faith sector. The objective of the Board is to coordinate and ensure the effectiveness of their member agencies in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children living in Devon. To ensure this effectiveness the DSCB commission a number of training activities (often, but not exclusively) one-day courses based on identified needs. These activities are designed for multi-agency audiences and are, therefore, not specific to individual agency needs. Devon County Council is tendering to enable it to put in place a framework of suppliers who are able to provide training activities to Devon County Council and other multi-agency audiences. In addition to this Devon County Council also wishes to put a sole supplier framework in place for a supplier to produce, write and publish the Devon Safeguarding electronic magazine. Training courses will be delivered to multi-agency groups at a range of venues across Devon. The DSCB believe that multi-agency training is key in developing the necessary skills and attitudes of staff and volunteers and helps them to build the relationships and networks that will enable them to work effectively to safeguard children.
