Residential Children’s Homes

Reading Borough Council is looking to develop the market to ensure there are sufficient high quality residential children’s homes in the local vicinity to meet the diverse and challenging needs of Reading Borough Council’s children and young people.

This will include young people already in the care of the local authority who may experience placement breakdown and those coming into care whose needs are consistent with a residential children’s home.

There are a wide range of issues that this group of young people can present such as CSE, absconding, offending, substance misuse, mild learning disability, mental health, self-harming, and those that need a high level of nurturing. Bespoke packages need to be available to cater for individual needs.
