Subcontracts must hold construction line Gold accreditation or equivilant to be considered for these works.

Outline Scope

The above scheme will require power planning of concrete areas to facilitate the upgrade of the central reservation.

Required planed troughs will vary from 0.5m to 2.2m width with varying depths (0.05-0.2m), with 90-95% of all planed materials being concrete.

Works

The existing central reserve Vehicle Restraint System (VRS) is being upgraded along the section of motorway from Junction 10 to Junction 13 as part of the Dynamic Hard Shoulder (DHS) safety enhancement scheme.

The barrier upgrade is to be a Rigid Concrete Barrier system that will be slip-formed in-situ or pre-cast.

The in-situ barrier will be Davidsons Concrete Barrier (DCB). The Pre-cast barrier will be Deltabloc Barriers. At bifurcation locations either precast Delta bloc DB 80E barriers or precast DB 80AS-E will be used. As part of the central reservation upgrades works - the drainage system where required will also be upgraded - mainly between J11a and J12.

In addition to the central reserve barrier upgrade there are 11no places of relative safety (PRS) to constructed, 5no on NB carriageway and 6no on SB carriageway. The PRS will compromise of localised widening by either re-grading the earthworks or by retentions solutions such as sheet pilling or precast concrete wall.
