description

Derbyshire County Council are inviting organisations to bid in a competitive process for grants to deliver the bespoke numeracy activities listed in this document to Derbyshire residents aged 19 or older and who do not currently have a level 2 qualification in numeracy.

This project will run between 1st April 2023 and 31st March 2025

Please note that whilst we are inviting tenders to cover the full two-year period, each year will be treated separately as there is no roll over of funding from one year to the next. Any underspends in the first year will be lost.

Interventions funded through Multiply must not displace, replace and/or duplicate any existing numeracy provision, such as activity funded through the existing Adult Education budget statutory entitlement for maths qualification.

Numeracy is a fundamental skill that is universally important to individuals’ life chances, and for the economy. We also know that people who improve numeracy skills are more likely to be in employment, have higher wages, and improved wellbeing.

Funded through UKSPF and managed by the Department for Education (DfE), Multiply is targeted at adults aged 19+ with the aim of improving their ability to understand and use maths in their daily life, home, and work (e.g., improving household finances, helping children with homework, making more send of the facts in the media, managing household budgets and improving sector specific numeracy skills)

To meet this challenge, successful applications will need to demonstrate that numeracy activities are innovative (or have a proven track record of success), engaging, fit around people’s lives, and are tailored to individual needs with delivery taking place in the community or workplace. Activities will also need to demonstrate that they support progression towards accredited learning and/or improved employment opportunities
