description
The Christie charity supports the work of The Christie hospital. The vital funds raised by the charity support projects that are outside of the scope of the NHS and help to make The Christie more than ‘just a hospital’, making it the special place it is.
The charity focuses on developing and supporting four key areas: providing the best care and treatment for our patients, using clinical trials and research to make major breakthroughs, increasing our understanding of cancer through education and helping patients and their families by offering extra support.
The Christie lottery forms part of the charities strategy for engaging with new and existing supporters, while raising vital funds to support its work. The lottery is a lower level ask with the potential to generate long standing support from individual supporters.
The Trust requires the services of a third party to manage and run a weekly lottery which has currently reached 4413 lines as at 9/7/16. The lottery may be an umbrella type which by joining, the player can specify that they wish to play for the Christie.
To play, one line can be purchased for £1 per week and more than one line may be purchased by the same player. A proportion of the £1 stake played is required to go straight to the Christie for allocation to appropriate ‘good causes’. The remaining proportion will be retained by the third party to provide prizes, cover management and administration costs.
For a £1 per week commitment the player will be allocated with a six digit Lottery number, which will remain theirs for as long as they wish to keep playing. Every Saturday, the lucky winners are selected at random and prize cheques issued and posted directly to the player. The player must be 16 or over to enter. Winners have to match 3, 4, 5 or all 6 digits of the winning number in the correct place in the sequence.
The Trust would ideally be looking for a service which provides an increase in the portion of the stake allocated to the Trust as the number of entries increases.
