description
NHS East Berkshire Clinical Commissioning Group is commissioning Ophthalmology Referral Refinement (Clinical Triage) Services.
The purpose of the Ophthalmology Referral Refinement Clinical Triage Service is to provide an electronic entry point into eye care services, using technology to integrate ophthalmology services across primary, community and secondary care, whilst promoting an efficient and clinically effective eye care service for our population in East Berkshire. This service will be the central point for eye care referrals, with clinicians using this platform to triage/review and issue management plans (where required) that will instruct onward care. This ophthalmology referral platform will be capable of receiving diagnostic imaging, including OCT, that can be manipulated on review and stored in accordance with the Department of Health-Records Management NHS Code of Practice 2006.
The key features of the service will include:
| • | Working with the local healthcare economy to help use technology and innovation, improving pathway efficiencies and patient choice. |
| • | Enabling the system to efficiently and effectively treat the eye care needs of our populations in the right place, first time. |
| • | Provide in-depth epidemiology analysis of referral information. |
| • | Provide an approved reliable electronic platform demonstrated to be capable of working with primary, community and secondary care IT environments that supports the delivery of a remote clinical triage service, enabling a seamless transfer of referral. |
The anticipated contract start date will be 1st February 2019. The contract duration will be for an initial period of 3 years, with an option to extend by a further 2 years. The annual value of the contract is £ 82,707.
