description
Installation of communications hardware to connect heat meters previously installed in dwellings in nine housing estates. In each of the estates, heating is supplied by a central boiler house via hot water to each property. As such these estates fall under the scope of the Heat Networks (Metering & Billing) Regulations 2014 (hereafter referred to as ‘the legislation’).
Under the legislation, where heat meters are installed, the heat supplier (Camden) must ensure that bills for the consumption of heating are accurate and based on actual consumption.
At each of the estates individual heat meters have been installed during heating refurbishment.. This was done to comply with the legislation which requires that when a building supplied by a district heat network undergoes major renovations to the technical services, the heat supplier must install meters for each final customer.
The platform will require the provision of data of a standardised format at daily intervals (minimum).
M-Bus (or Meter-Bus) is a European Standard for the remote reading of utility and other consumption meters and this is the chosen protocol for Camden’s billing platform.
To provide data from each heat meter directly into Camden’s billing system, will require installation of an M-Bus network into each estate which connects each heat meter to a central data logger located in the plant room.
The proposed contract is for the supply and installation of the M-Bus networks and data loggers.
