description
As an authority Bolsover District Council (BDC) are undertaking projects to maximise the efficiency of its property assets. Part of this will see the relocation of the council chamber within the main council offices. The project is due to start Monday 30th November running for approximately 4 weeks for a completion prior to the Christmas break.
BDC are looking to appoint a main contractor to carry out refurbishment work to an area at the front of the building forming the new council chamber. Please see attached drawing DO.03.004 with the specification notes detailed.
The work will consist of removing a sliding glazed entrance door and blocking up the opening using Gypframe Acoustud system and associated plasterboard and skim finish. The removal of existing power and data located on the floor and installation of new points appropriate to the new layout. This will consist of floor boxes and dado trunking. New access doors to the room are to be provided together with an access control system. Alterations to the existing lighting system will be required and finishes work such as new flooring, decorations (painting) and timber clad feature panelling.
The room of the building where this work will take place will be available during normal office hours and can be made secure from members of the public who use the building together with staff members. There may be elements of the electrical work that have to be completed out of office hours if there is to be a disruption in power to certain areas of the building.
There are key timescales that have to be considered as part of the tender submission. The aim for the work is to be able to commence towards the end of November ready for completion prior to the Christmas period.
Please note within Annex B4 there is an item 18 (A) & 18 (B) to cover the two timber cladding options suggested of Western Red Cedar and Light Oak.
