description
The University of Wolverhampton is seeking to procure a research grade, multi-scale X-ray micro/nano CT scanning system in order to facilitate imaging internal structure and texture in a variety of engineered components and materials. The system should be capable of very high resolution on smaller samples, with detail detectability (smallest pixel size) down to 100nm, but also capable of lower resolution scans on much larger samples (up to 200mm in diameter). It is expected the multi-scale capability will be provided by the system incorporating two different X-ray detector types, such that a flat panel detector used for larger samples and a Charged Couple Device (CCD) is used for high resolution on smaller samples. Where the offering differs this is to be clearly detailed in the tender submission.
It is a MANDATORY REQUIREMENT that the systems is appropriate for a high volume multi-user, engineering research and be suited to the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students of Engineering at micro and nano scales.
In addition to compliance with the Specification it is critical that the proposals offer additional added value in terms of forming a collaborative working partnership between the supplier and the University of Wolverhampton.
This is a one off Procurement exercise for the University although there will be a minimum of two (2) years warranty provided.
