description

This work will aim to assess the current understanding of the role of wetland ecosystem services in poverty reduction in lower and middle-income countries. To achieve this, it will seek to fulfil the following objectives: (1) collect and organise available information on the flows, distribution and value of wetland ecosystem services; (2) combine this information with data on poverty in lower and middle countries, and interpret this evidence using the necessary technical expertise; (3) summarise key findings, and illustrate these with case studies, to inform wetland conservation policies and their relationship to poverty reduction; and (4) identify current knowledge gaps and provide a steer of where future research work is most needed.
