description
The response to the pandemic saw a number of emergency and / or temporary measures put in place across the statutory and private sectors to support households facing reductions in household income. This included both financial support, e.g. through adjustments to the benefits system, and reductions in liabilities, e.g. mortgage repayment holidays.
Much of this support is due to end in coming months, and creditors will need to begin recovering debts and restoring liabilities.
The LGA would like to profile the withdrawal of support to:
-Give councils a clearer picture of impacts on their residents
-Support councils' own local decisions on liabilities and debt recovery
-Inform councils' approach to supporting economically vulnerable households during recovery
-Inform national policy discussions on e.g. future design of the benefits system to ensure low income households receive the support they need, and there are not unsustainable financial pressures placed on councils' support for economically vulnerable households
Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
