description
The Basingstoke Canal Authority (BCA) (a local Authority partnership hosted by Hampshire County Council) (HCC) manages the Basingstoke Canal for HCC and Surrey County Council (SCC) – the owners of the waterway since 1976.
All lock gates are bespoke, each lock chamber is unique and can vary considerably and is not necessarily symmetrical, or uniform in width, height or batter. As part of the contract, it is the Supplier’s responsibility to visit each site and take full and sufficient measurements to enable them to fabricate the specified pair of gates to fit the chamber, forming a good seal with each other and the cill beam.
The Framework is due to commence 5th September 2016 and will be for a period of two years with the option to extend by a further two years in annual increments.
