description

The Blood and Infection Programme of Care is seeking support for it Immunoglobulin Improving Value Project.

Immunoglobulin is commissioned by NHS England in line with Department of Health Clinical guidelines for immunoglobulin use.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/clinical-guidelines-for-immunoglobulin-use-second-edition-update

The guidelines state which conditions immunoglobulin is recommended for and these are colour coded according to priority. A red classification indicates the highest priority as there could be a risk to life without treatment. A blue classification is for those indications where there is some evidence of benefit but for which there may be alternative treatments and for which treatment may be modified in times of supply shortages of immunoglobulin. Grey indications are those for which the evidence is weak, including rare disorders.

It is envisaged that the successful organisation will be able to provide the required clinical evidence reviews to meet our objectives of providing safe, effective, evidence based care and will have the relevant experience, knowledge and capability to carry out detailed clinical evidence reviews for the grey indications from the Clinical Guidelines for Immunoglobulin Use 2nd edition.

It is expected the chosen provider will be able to carry out the following:

Scoping reviews to identify literature reporting on the use of immunoglobulin, in people with a grey indication. It would include a scoping of the literature to:

1.Identifying the research question (PICO)
2.Identifying relevant studies (search)
3.Study selection
4.Charting data
5.Collating, summarising and reporting results, interpretation and conclusions

Then provide rapid reviews for those indications where there are experimental controlled trials or observational studies with a control group including:

1.Assessing quality of included literature
2.Measures of treatment effect
3.Summarising and interpreting results

Please note that that this contract may be extended for an additional 3 months.
