There is little doubt that that web casting is a useful tool in enhancing transparency and public access to meetings. The system allows better access for the public, press and others to view Committee proceedings and debate, both live and as an archive. The Council has webcast its main Committee meetings for a number of years and it is now an integrated and valued aspect of the meeting process. Elected Members welcome the facility and the transparency it brings to the democratic process. Devon County Council, under its financial regulations, now must tender for a webcasting service to be fully operation by 31 March 2016.
