A method to estimate waste generation by the commercial and industrial sector in England

The overall aim of this project is to provide a new methodology for estimating waste generation by the C&I sector according to type of material and type of business. Literature searches along with an understanding of the policy background and waste treatment targets will be essential. The method must produce estimates that are consistent with Defra’s estimates of waste disposal at landfill and incinerator sites based on administrative permit data. The method must produce estimates that are consistent with estimates of levels of recycling and levels of imports and exports of waste. The method must be based on data sources and show a clear audit trail from final estimate back to data sources.
