description

City of Bradford MDC is looking for a framework of providers to ensure that all the apprenticeship and workforce planning requirements are met. The Apprenticeship Levy started in May 2017 and the Council will be looking to work with external providers to deliver both the up skilling of the existing staff as well as developing our external provision of apprentices. The lifetime of the framework of providers will be in place for four Years The Enterprise Act - requires public sector organisations employing more than 250 employees to employ 2.3% of their workforce as apprentices. These apprenticeships can be at any age and level. In the first year it is also possible to fund apprenticeship opportunities for existing staff. In Bradford this is around the minimum of 230 apprentices at any time. The Council expects initially to deliver 50% in house. This would leave approximately 115 apprentices that we would expect to place with external providers to meet the requirements of the Enterprise Act. However, the Council has ambitions to exceed this target and to provide up to 500 apprentices per year. Under the Apprenticeship Levy businesses with a salary budget greater than £3m per annum will be required to pay 0.5% of this budget which for the Council is approx £1 - 1.5 million (NI payable). In year one we would expect this to equate to £500,000 - £750,000 for this framework. This money will be used to pay for apprenticeship training, examination fees and End Point Assessment costs.
