description

In 2015 the Government published the Sporting Future: A New Strategy for an Active Nation strategy. The strategy goes beyond widening participation in sport and sets out the following five outcomes:

physical wellbeing,
mental wellbeing,
individual development,
social and community development
economic development.

The Bolton Cricket Development Group and partners, has agreed a development plan which sets out the following outcomes:

increasing participation
reducing physical inactivity
engaging the community
improving links between clubs and schools
developing volunteers.

Bolton Council recognises the value of sport and how it can contribute to meeting the need of the local residents and continues to work in partnerships to promote the benefits of sport and physical activity.

The Council has made available a Cricket Development Grant Scheme (2017) to help support and contribute towards the implementation of the Bolton Cricket Development plan to invest in grassroots cricket in the borough. Applicants must meet the criteria as stated in the grant documents. Grant application documents are available for access via The Chest (www.the-chest.org.uk)
