West Midlands Fire and Rescue Authority would like suitably qualified providers to attend a Market Engagement Event which will inform the market of their intentions to procure Firefighting Recruitment and Training Services. The requirements of which are:
- Provide the skills, knowledge and understanding of the Core Fire Functions (CFF):
Appliance Familiarisation, Ladders, Breathing Apparatus, Road Traffic Collision, Trauma Management, Hazards and Risks and Health & Safety
| • | Formal assessment of : Breathing Apparatus, Road Traffic Collision, Pumping, Hose laying, First Aid and Trauma Management, Safe Working at Height, Working in or near water and Hazardous Materials |
| • | Recruitment process including: attraction, interview and assessments, pre-employment checks and management reporting |
It is envisaged that the tender documentation for the procurement of these services will be available from September 2016, with an anticipated service commencement date of January 2017.
A separate advert will be published to alert interested parties when the tender documentation is available.
Two Market Engagement Events will be held on 20th and 21st July 2016 between 09.30 – 12.00 at:
Hay Mills Community Fire Station, Speedwell Road, Hay Mills, Birmingham, B25 8HH.
Providers wishing to attend one of the Market Engagement Events should email using the subject line “Firefighter Recruitment and Training” to express their intention to attend to: emma.millington@wmfs.net by 9am on Monday 18th July with the following details:

Please note the attendance will be limited to 2 attendees per organisation. In the event you are unable to attend but would like to receive a copy of any presentation materials, please send an email to emma.millington@wmfs.net and copies will be sent to you.
An expression of interest to attend this Market Engagement Event is no indication of a commitment to participate in the future tender process nor does it infer any special status on those Providers who do attend. Providers who do not attend this Market Engagement Event will still be able to apply for the Procurement in the future.
An expression of interest in this event will not automatically entitle involvement in any future procurement exercise. Any procurement conducted as a result of this event will be advertised separately and all organisations wanting to participate will need to respond to the procurement advertisement as and when it is published.
Please note that this Market Engagement Event does not represent a formal stage in the procurement process and attendance will play no part in any subsequent evaluation process.
