description
It is the Boards intension to award this contract to a single Contractor and it is envisaged that the successful Tenderer will co-ordinate the running of project works at Cape Wrath Lighthouse. The proposed works will comprise of the external redecoration of the lighthouse, quarterdeck and accommodation block along with internal redecoration of the lighthouse and quarterdeck. Cape Wrath Lighthouse is situated on the most north-westerly tip of the Scottish mainland at Latitude 58o 37.6' N, Longitude 04o 59.9' W. Access to the lighthouse is by a 10-minute ferryboat crossing from Durness, across the Kyle of Durness, and then by minibus along a track for approximately 12 miles. The land between the Kyle of Durness and the lighthouse is used as a bombardment range. Materials will be taken to site for renovation / upgrade works by ship and helicopter, and removed upon completion of the works, contractors must ensure materials are packaged correctly for Helicopter operations when supplied to Oban Depot and at the site removal stage. The contractor must adhere to the NLB ship & Helicopter timetable. Please refer to the tender document for more detail on the project work.
Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
A site visit is planned for Cape Wrath Lighthouse on Thursday 5 July 2018, should the weather conditions be a problem for travelling to site an
alternative date will be arranged with all interested parties. All Tenderers attending the site visit should contact Donald Innes, Procurement Officer, Email: Procurement@nlb.org.uk by 1200hrs on Monday 2 July 2018 to confirm attendance, including names and mobile numbers of the representatives intending to visit site. Specific site visit times and meeting point will be confirmed prior to the site visit by Donald Innes, Procurement Officer.
