The Marine Surveyor Development Scheme (MSDS) was set up in response to the International Maritime Organisation's (IMO) International Instruments Implementation (III) Code and is intended to meet the requirements of the Code relevant to surveyor initial qualifications and training.

A tendering process utilising the YPO's DPS for Training Solutions for the Emergency Services was completed and five of the required courses were awarded.
