The University has recently been awarded an EPSRC Core Funding and Unmet Demands Equipment grant and wants to purchase one Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyser, including Ancillary Apparatus for Wet and Dry Sample Dispersion, Software and PC. This equipment will be housed in the Merz Court Analytical Suite within the School of Engineering, Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering. The objectives of the equipment are summarized as follows:

  • To be able to measure particle size distributions in samples containing particles ranging from nanometer-scale to micron- and millimetre-scale sizes;
  • To be able to measure particles dispersed in wet and dry medium (i.e. air).
  • To be able to carry out measurements in a wide range of aqueous or organic solvent wet mediums.
  • To be able to obtain morphological information in addition to particle size distribution information.
  • To be able to carry out full data analysis and calculations on the raw and processed data using the system software, and export results for presentation/further processing using other pieces of software.

The scope of this contract is for the supply, delivery and installation of the equipment detailed in the ITT to the University, with after-sales support and 12 months warranty and maintenance
