description
What we look for
We are looking for graduates with an interest in utility regulation who have (or are expecting) at least a 2:1 in a numerical or analytical discipline. This can include Economics, Engineering, Business Studies, Business Management, Business Finance, or other sustainability related disciplines. We are looking for people who have the ability to analyse and use evidence, and communicate their results in a way that meets the needs of the audience.
However, of equal importance is a highly motivated and enthusiastic approach, and the ability to lead people and to handle change. We also want passion and drive from our graduates.
Our approach
Our graduate recruits will gain work experience in our various areas on a rotational basis. Each rotation includes the opportunity to work with a dedicated team engaged on a particular project or piece of policy work, often at the highest level. Each graduate will have access to a manager and mentor during this period. This programme will offer graduates an opportunity to spend part of their rotation at Ofgem.
In addition to carrying out their work responsibilities, our graduate recruits will be able to access a varied training programme. This includes modules on presentation skills and project management in addition to an introduction to our management development programme.
For training in the regulation of energy utilities, our graduates undertake a residential course in Italy at the Florence School of Regulation.
