description

The University requires the refurbishment of the Wilfred Brown Building and construction of the shell and core (which includes external façade works); fit out works to all floors (excluding furniture which will be integrated with the main contract works by the University as artistes and tradesman at the latter stages of the project); and steel and concrete staircases to the Michael Sterling atrium.

The scope of works includes the following: 1) Re-cladding/replacing to all facades which will include a significant amount of curtain walling, fibrous cement panels, zinc rain screens and perforated profiled mesh screen, new entrance windows; 2) New academic teaching, lecture and office space for which shall comprise new doors, internal partitions, finishes and mechanical and electrical services and a new lift; 3) Atrium stairs interlinking the Michael Sterling Building and Wilfred Brown Building;

  1. Fit-out works;
  2. General amenities to support the above; and
  3. Low carbon - new services installations include ground source heat pumps, biomass boilers, and high efficiency lighting installations, together with controls systems for each. These installations will be totally integrated with other strategies, such as natural ventilation.
