description

The purpose of this brief is to seek the Works of a suitably qualified Forestry Contractor to undertake the felling, extraction of timber and raking of brash.

The North York Moors National Park Authority (NYMNPA) has developed proposals to restore areas of coniferous plantation in Arncliffe Wood to a mixture of broadleaved woodland and wooded heath through the felling and extraction of the current mature conifer crops, and the planting and regeneration of native trees and shrubs, along with the regeneration of heathland vegetation where appropriate. The site location and characteristics combined with the use of the PROWs dictate that commercial forestry is unviable and therefore future management is targeted at restoring valuable habitats and amenity.
