Healthy Cornwall Commercial Weight Management Club Offer

Healthy Cornwall offer an adults' Healthy Weight Service. This service is primarily a 10-week Healthy Weight course consisting of food and nutrition advice and physical activity. This service is complemented by a number of ongoing, regular weekly weigh in sessions and more recently sessions using football to engage with men around healthy weight, nutrition and activity. During the COVID-19 pandemic residents have been supported through a digital offer and this will continue to be developed to support those people who are able and would like to access support using this channel.

In the coming months Healthy Cornwall will be looking to focus is delivery of the face to face Healthy Weight offer in areas and communities of Cornwall that experience health and socioeconomic inequalities and are therefore more at risk of excess weight, obesity and poorer health outcomes.

In response to the shift in focus of the Healthy Cornwall service and the increased risk of COVID-19 Healthy Cornwall wishes to increase the number of people the service is able to support in a cost-effective way. Healthy Cornwall is therefore seeking to commission commercial weight management operators to provide this increase in capacity.

Healthy Cornwall is seeking to purchase provision of 12-week weight management support with the option of face to face groups and online delivery and support. To ensure maximum coverage across Cornwall and consumer choice we anticipate purchasing this provision from a number of Suppliers on a demand led basis. The Suppliers will be able to provide a wide range of provision on different days and times across Cornwall.

Suppliers will be able to evidence a range of Outputs and Outcomes that contribute to supporting Service Users to lose weight during the 12-week intervention. The Service will also advise Service Users how to maintain a healthy weight when the intervention has ended. The Provider should also be able to offer support past the 12-week funded intervention through offering Service Users opportunities to self-fund further support.
