Market Testing Exercise - Specialist Residential Nursing Respite for Adults with a Learning and/or Physical Disability

Barnsley Council is seeking to re-commission their Specialist Residential Nursing Respite Service for Adults with a Learning Disability and/or Physical Disability in 2018 to ensure we continue to meet the needs of service users and their carers. This residential nursing respite service is currently provided from a purpose built building providing support to adults with a learning disability and/or physical disability based on the fundamental principles of rights, independence, choice, inclusion and safety. This Service is offered to adults with a learning disability and/or physical disability aged 18 and over, living in the Barnsley area; and • their carers who have been assessed as eligible for short breaks from their caring roles under the current carers assessment process; or • who are currently living with Shared Lives Carers who are eligible to a break from their caring role. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The carer has an assessment completed prior to accessing the service and the amount of respite they require is determined.
