NHS England (formerly Health Education England) will be commencing a Market Engagement event for the delivery of the following two opportunities for Aspirant Cancer Career and Education Development Programme (ACCEND):
- Postgraduate Certificate (offered at Level 6 and 7) Qualification in Speciality (QIS) for cancer care, enabling registered professionals at all levels of practice to develop their knowledge and capabilities in caring for people affected by cancer and, from which, to develop their career pathway.
- Postgraduate Cancer professional development and clinical leadership module (offered at Level 7).
These offers will provide a standardised nationally recognised programmes that will set the expectations for effective and safe practice. To provide guidance and direction on the knowledge, to the workforce who care for people affected by cancer in generalist and specialist cancer services and roles as part of multi-professional teams across the four UK nations. This also includes pre-registration learners and early career professionals aiming towards developing their careers in cancer care.
The market engagement event will have representations from NHS England commissioning, apprenticeship, procurement teams, regional CAD, commissioning leads and Subject Matter Experts from the ACCEND programme.
NHS England would like to update the market on the following:
- The work conducted to date by NHS England in their review of the programmes, focusing on the expected procurement activities for 2023.
- The purpose and user implementation of the ACCEND Career Pathway, Core Cancer Capabilities and Education Framework.
- An overview of the Postgraduate Certificate (QIS)
- An overview of the Postgraduate professional development and clinical leadership module
- An overview for Providers who are anticipating delivering the PG Certificate (QIS) and PG Cancer professional development and clinical leadership module via an apprenticeship
It is our intention to hold a Market Engagement event on Monday 15th May 2023 at 15:00 until 16:30pm to discuss our plans with parties interested in potentially bidding for the delivery of these programmes. The event will provide an opportunity for potential providers to find out more about the process that we anticipate following, general discussion and an opportunity to network. The event will be conducted in the form of an online presentation and discussion, organised through MS Teams.

An invite to the MS Teams session will be sent prior to the event.
