description
This research project forms an important part of meeting the overarching aims of the inquiry. It provides a valuable part of the overall inquiry evidence base alongside other methods such as consulting with our key stakeholders and conducting in-house desk research and analysis. It will also enable us to explore key issues in greater depth in what is a complex and multi-faceted area of policy - and which varies across the three nations of Great Britain. There are three main research questions that we want the research to answer, which are closely aligned with the aims of the inquiry as a whole (please note these are very broad, guiding questions which are further broken down in the following sections):
| 1. | What does existing evidence say about the housing needs and experiences of disabled people in each of the three nations? |
| 2. | What are the views and experiences of disabled people in relation to housing provision in each of the three nations? |
| 3. | What are local authorities in England, Scotland and Wales doing to ensure disabled people can enjoy their right to independent living, through housing provision? |
The following paragraphs provide more detail on each broad question, which we see as three distinct strands to the research project. Each strand is then divided by nation. A methodology for each strand is also put forward, to assist bidders with their proposals.
