description

To remove existing green waste bunkers (compost bays) constructed using either timber and/or corrugated steel sheets located in 4 allotment sites:-

  1. Spital Farm
  2. Easington
  3. Sinclair Avenue
  4. Grange Road (Provisional)

The bunkers require either new or enhanced reinforced concrete pads along with the construction of bulk timber walls supported by RSJ's (please see attached contract documentation).

There is restricted access (2.4 m) at both Easington and Grange Road sites. The Grange Road site is provisional as the tenants on that site are suggesting that this facility is not required therefore Banbury Town Council is currently assessing this with them, the outcome of this consultation will be identified prior to the award of the contract.

  1. of the sites although owned by Banbury Town Council (BTC) are managed by Allotment Associations with whom the work will be agreed and programmed in. All liaison work will be undertaken by/through BTC. These sites are:-
  1. Spital Farm
  2. Easington

The remaining 2 sites at Sinclair Avenue and Grange Road are directly owned and managed by BTC. Location of these sites can be found in the Green Waste Bunker Refurbishment Contract

As these bunkers are in regular use by the tenants, any compost contained in the bays shall be removed to allow for the refurbishment of them to an agreed location within each site and upon completion of the work will be returned to the bunkers, by the successful contractor, for future tenant use.

Topsoil excavated during the works is to be retained by the Town Council but sub-soil shall be classed as waste material.

Any waste is to be removed to either an Environmental Agency or local authority approved tip and any ground or other damage shall be reinstated to the entire satisfaction of Banbury Town Council, through whom all correspondence will be directed.

The analysis of the contracts will be based on price however the information provided by contractors on their experience will be taken into consideration. Failure to provide this information by the tender return date will result in the tenders being considered incomplete and will not therefore be assessed.

Additional information: Additional Documentation attached:-

  1. Green Waste Bunker Refurbishment Contract Documentation
  2. Site Photographs
  3. Return Envelope Label
  4. Contractor Information Form

Upon completion of the work any damage to the surrounding areas etc. shall be reinstated to the entire satisfaction of Banbury Town Council by the successful contractor at no additional cost to the Town Council.
