The Home Office Centre of Applied Science and Technology (CAST) are conducting Early Engagement through this notice as a request for information to ascertain if there are any suppliers who can offer:
| • | An automated algorithm that can screen x-ray images for firearms |
| • | An automated algorithm that can screen x-ray images for firearm components |
| • | An automated algorithm that can screen x-ray images for other prohibited and restricted items |
| • | The algorithm must be x-ray scanner manufacturer agnostic |
| • | The algorithm must provide an alarm to the user where a detection is made |
The Home Office may decide to exercise a right to evaluate the capability of any systems which meet the above requirements.
The Home Office will consider requests to meet reasonable costs to enable a supplier to deliver the system for evaluation.
The Home Office may wish to task the supplier to investigate how their system can be integrated with Border Force targeting databases.
The Home Office may require suppliers to sign a two-way non-disclosure agreement to allow the sharing of commercially sensitive information.
The Home Office is seeking responses on or before 12:00 (mid-day) on 9th October 2015.
All responses are to be sent to HOSProcurement@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk quoting reference HOS/15/043 Early Engagement Automated Algorithm.
Additional information: Early Engagement notice –Request for information/seeking supplier engagement to ascertain if there are any suppliers who can offer the requirements set out in Section 3 Description. For transparency purposes it should be noted that this notice is for early engagement purposes only and the Home Office cannot guarantee this engagement will lead to a full procurement activity.
